Since January 2026, we have been going to the swimming pool as part of our weekly schedule. The aim was not to teach the children how to swim, but to help them become familiar with the water environment, develop their comfort in the water and build their confidence through suitable, fun activities.
To enrich the sessions and make them even more engaging, we also invested in pool equipment (noodles, boards, rings, etc.) to add variety to the activities on offer.
The sessions have been taking place every Monday afternoon at the ‘Les Thermes’ swimming pool in Strassen, in groups of six children, accompanied by two educators, one of them being a sports educator who’s role is to promote the children’s motor skills. Each group attended six consecutive sessions to maintain a regular routine and support their learning.
Over the weeks, the children gained confidence, discovered new sensations and improved their comfort in the water, each at their own pace. These sessions also provided an opportunity to share wonderful experiences in a caring and fun atmosphere.
To round off this wonderful project, we invited the parents to come and join a session. This gave them the chance to see the progress their children had made and to share this enjoyable moment with them. This gathering allowed us to celebrate everyone’s achievements and bring this first round of pool sessions to a close in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
