This year’s summer party took place on July 10th and was a wonderful celebration of the emotions project that accompanied our children from January to June. Inspired by “The Colour Monster”, we explored four basic emotions together: Joy (yellow), Anger (red), Sadness (blue), and Fear (black). Throughout the past months, the children discovered these emotions through creative activities, stories, games, music, and conversations, learning how to recognise and express their own feelings.
To share this special journey with our families, the entire summer party was dedicated to the theme of emotions. At our exhibition stand, visitors could admire the children’s beautiful crafts created throughout the project, while posters filled with photographs and explanations gave families an insight into the many activities and experiences the children enjoyed over the last six months.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the Emotion Explorer obstacle course. Every child received their own passport before setting off on an exciting adventure through four interactive stations, each representing one of the emotions we explored. At every station, children completed fun challenges and collected stamps in their passports, encouraging them to experience emotions through movement, creativity, and play.
Another special moment was the performance by the children. Together, they sang « If You’re Happy and You Know It », adapted to include all four emotions from our project. Each verse represented a different feeling, allowing the children to express joy, anger, sadness, and fear through music and movement. The performance was wonderfully led by Rose and received enthusiastic applause from all the families.
Families also enjoyed visiting Rina’s Photobooth, where they could capture happy memories together. The photos were printed on the spot, giving everyone a lovely keepsake from this special day.
To complete the celebration, guests were treated to delicious emotion-themed mocktails, as well as burgers served with pasta salad, creating a relaxed and festive atmosphere where children, parents, and educators could spend quality time together.
Our summer party was a fantastic conclusion to an inspiring project. It celebrated not only everything the children had learned about emotions but also the importance of recognising, expressing, and accepting every feeling. We would like to thank all the families for joining us and helping make this day such a joyful success.
